The buildings are designed to use 33-percent less energy than mandated by building codes. A combination of thermal mass, natural ventilation, efficient compressors, and nighttime cooling enables the buildings to remain comfortable during the day with minimal energy consumption. A building dashboard allows staff and visitors to monitor their energy and water use in real time.

Work Resumes on Nation’s First Standard on High-Performing Green Buildings
The committee for proposed Standard 189.1, Standard for the Design of High-Performance Green Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings met yesterday. Meant to provide minimum criteria for green-building practices, the standard is applicable to new commercial buildings and major renovation projects.

Economic Recovery Proposal Includes $14 Billion for Greening and Renovation of Public Schools
