Decca Contract Achieves GREENGUARD Certification

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Decca Contract Furniture, as a part of its Citizen Decca environmental initiative, announces that it is the first Asian-based manufacturer to achieve GREENGUARD® certification for its contract casegoods products. Decca casegoods have been tested for their chemical emissions performance and are now GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality Certified as low-emitting furnishings.

To achieve GREENGUARD certification, interior building products must meet the requirements of the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute (GEI), an independent, nonprofit organization established to improve public health and quality of life through programs that improve indoor air. GREENGUARD certification is an important tool for architects, designers and product specifiers who want to specify low-emitting products to meet new guidelines for green built environments.

With more than 40 participating furniture manufacturers, GREENGUARD certification is the most recognized program for specifying low-emitting furniture for high-performance green interiors. Certification can also be part of a strategy that helps a project earn points in the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Rating System™. Projects earn points and are rated in six categories, including: Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, Energy & Atmosphere, Materials & Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality, and Innovation in Design.
