Building Type Awards Celebrate the Best in Architectural Design

March 17, 2009

Winners in the categories of Housing and Healthcare Facilities will have projects showcased alongside 2009 Design Award recipients at the Center for Architecture exhibition

NEW YORK CITY, March 12, 2009 – Winners of the AIA New York Chapter’s Building Type Awards have been announced, and recognize excellence and innovation in specialized design fields. Cosponsored by the AIA New York Chapter and the Boston Society of Architects, the Building Type Awards acknowledge exemplary work done by established and new practitioners from New York and Massachusetts, regardless of project size and budget. This year’s featured sectors were Housing and Healthcare Facilities.

Judged by separate teams of renowned experts, including Annie Coull and Gary Hack, the winning projects span the United States, from Monterrey, CA, to Boston. The winning entries received either “honor” or “merit” citations, and were selected for their originality and contributions to each particular field.

The Building Type Award winners were announced in conjunction with the AIA New York Chapter’s longstanding Design Awards program. All awards will be conferred at the annual Design Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, April 22.
