Bretford Products Earn GREENGUARD Certification

March 23, 2009

CHICAGO – Reinforcing its efforts toward the production of furniture that is safe for people and the environment, Bretford Manufacturing Inc. recently revealed that more of its laminate tables, carts and accessories have been GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Certified® by the GREENGUARD Environmental Institute (GEI). The newly approved models have achieved the GREENGUARD standard for low-emitting products and for the Children & SchoolsSM product certification program.

With these additions, a total of 88 Bretford products now bear the trusted GREENGUARD logo and can be specified to help commercial facilities achieve Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED®) points.

“We take the safety of our products very seriously, especially those used in educational facilities where children are present,” explains Tad Petrick, director of marketing and product development for Bretford Manufacturing. “We continue to have our furniture models tested and certified so that we may contribute to healthy learning and working environments. At the same time, the certifications give our architects, designers and facility managers the ability to specify Bretford for their LEED projects.”

According to GEI, good IAQ is important for the health of all people. Elevated levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) contribute to poor IAQ and causes short- and long-term health issues ranging from asthma and allergies to neurological and respiratory disease. GREENGUARD-certified products continue to show significant reduction in both the individual chemicals emitting from their products the overall amounts of chemicals being released.

Among the newly certified models are laminate versions of Bretford’s RHOMBII training tables (Edge 16) and power systems, as well as an array of technology carts, including the TC Series Flat Panel Carts, FP Series Cabinet and Freestanding Carts, FPBBUL Carts, and many of the company’s traditional AV, data projector and adjustable height AV carts.
