NORCROSS, GA – Cifial USA, a Portuguese manufacturer specializing in handcrafted plumbing and hardware, announces its first Uncharted Waters design competition (www.cifialusa.com/promo).
Open to residential and commercial interior designers, the annual competition seeks to recognize and reward an interior designer who has pushed the boundaries of interior design to new limits with Cifial products. The winning design firm will be awarded $20,000 (retail value) in Cifial product(s) for use on a future design project.
“Drawing on Portugal’s rich history of navigation and exploration, the Uncharted Waters Awards seeks to recognize and reward those industry-leading designers who are searching for new design techniques in their own work,” says Joseph Pinto, president of Cifial USA. “We look forward to seeing how designers everywhere are using Cifial products to further the compelling interior spaces they create.”
Cifial’s unique approach to product design combines more than 100 years of Old World craftsmanship with cutting-edge designs to fit a wide variety of styles and applications from the more traditional to the avant-garde. This commitment is interwoven into Uncharted Waters, which will ultimately recognize a leader in original design for a commercial or residential setting utilizing Cifial products.
How to Enter:
There is no cost to enter. Entry forms are available at www.cifialusa.com/promo and must be submitted online. Entries must be submitted by June 30, 2009. Entrants will be required to describe in 500 words or less, how a project drove them to exceed their own design limits and how they integrated Cifial products.
Eligibility:
The competition is open to all residential and commercial interior designers in the continental United States. All projects must include Cifial product and have been completed after January 1, 2007. Entries will be judged by the Cifial USA design team, headed by internationally-renowned industrial designer Carlos Aguiar. Aguiar is a visiting professor at the University of Portugal and his long list of accomplishments includes being a recipient of the Design Plus, Good Design and Red Dot awards for Cifial product design.
Recognition:
The winner of the first Uncharted Waters design competition will receive $20,000 (retail value) worth of Cifial product(s) to be used on a future design project. Moreover, publicity efforts and news announcements will be pursued to garner media coverage in trade and consumer outlets. The winning designer will be featured on the Cifial USA Web site and will be notified by July 15, 2009.
