Designer Pages Debuts Radical Social Media Campaign at NeoCon East

Oct. 26, 2009

NEW YORK – Designer Pages will collaborate with Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. (MMPI) for a second time in 2009 as social media sponsor of NeoCon® East—the premier design exposition for commercial interiors with a focus on the federal government—October 28-29, at the Baltimore Convention Center in Maryland.

Motivated by the enormous success of the company's social media campaign launch at NeoCon World’s Trade Fair, which took place June 2009 in Chicago, Designer Pages (booth: Pratt Street, lower level lobby) returns to the contract furnishings trade show circuit with an evolved social media program for NeoCon East, titled #NeoConEast.  Broadcasting from plasma displays scattered across the show floor, #NeoConEast is a pioneering technology installation and guerilla marketing initiative that will power, capture and display NeoCon East-related conversation on Twitter—all in real time.

To support the campaign, Designer Pages will enlist the help of Citizen Bloggers—a group of vetted social media-savvy design enthusiasts—who will canvas NeoCon East and help create content by tweeting, taking pictures and video from their mobile devices under the Twitter hashtag #NeoConEast. Several recognized industry Web sites and blogs like AIANY.org and Archinect.com will partner with Designer Pages again by embedding widgets with an RSS feed of the live conversation stream to help share the show experience and encourage engagement with those not in attendance.

"While the A&D industry has been slow to embrace effective vehicles of communication and collaboration, we are inspired to see that design professionals are progressively beginning to take advantage of them," says Jacob Slevin, Designer Pages co-founder and CEO. "Every day we witness new and exciting exchanges between members of this community on Twitter, among them well-known editors, architecture firms, manufacturers, industrial designers and trade show managers, to identify just a few. The success of these social media campaigns is further validation of the enormous and positive influence of the social Web in the architecture and design industries and Designer Pages is happy to be helping steer the way.”
