Color Visualizer Allows Users to Upload Photos

Nov. 16, 2009

CLEVELAND – Sherwin-Williams has improved the ability to select colors online with the launch of its newly enhanced Color Visualizer on sherwin-williams.com. Key among the enhancements is a feature that allows users to upload their own images into the tool, adding a personal touch to color exploration.

The photo upload feature provides the ability to upload interior room or exterior building images. From there users can work within those images to explore any number of paint color combinations to see how they might look in the space. There is also the option to save, e-mail, print and download the colorized images.

Beyond the new photo upload option, other enhancements to the Color Visualizer include:

  • Hue and saturation adjustment capabilities; upon selecting a color, options for the same color in lighter, darker, brighter and less bright shades are provided
  • Light reflectance values (LRV) are available alongside the RGB and Hex values for each color selected
  • Improved design and functionality for faster, easier use

“When it comes to color selection, there’s nothing more important than making sure the shade you select is one that matches a space’s surroundings, and evokes the personality desired in the design,” says Jackie Jordan, director of color marketing for Sherwin-Williams. “We know that our customers have been looking for a way to navigate this process with greater ease and efficiency, and we’re thrilled to provide them a solution with these latest enhancements to the Color Visualizer, including the upload your own photo feature.”

Along with the Color Visualizer, Sherwin-Williams offers design professionals a number of other color selection tools that can be accessed online such as ColorSnap™, a color matching application for Apple iPhones, downloadable palettes for use in color rendering software, the latest color forecasts, and large-sized color swatches and fan decks. Sherwin-Williams also makes color matching and sampling easier with COLOR To Go® quart-sized paint samples and the Sher-Color™ Advanced Color Technology system for faster, accurate color matching.
