Zeftron Award Recognizes Commitment to Sustainability

DALTON, GA – Zeftron nylon, a premium nylon 6 commercial carpet yarn system, recently introduced Paul Westbrook as the winner of first Zeftron nylon Sustainable Practices Award. Announced during Greenbuild 2009, the award recognizes facility, as well as architect and design professionals who employ and utilize unique sustainable practices in three key areas: at work, at home and in their community. 

Westbrook will receive a $2,000 grand prize donation in his name to an environmentally focused charity. He will be also be highlighted in news announcements and be featured prominently on the Zeftron nylon Sustainable Practices Award Web site. In addition, Zeftron nylon will also compile and share the best tips detailing effective sustainable practices for the work, home and community from all award entrants.

As director of sustainable development and a LEED AP certified professional at Texas Instruments in Dallas, Westbrook’s remarkable commitment to sustainability at work contributed to one of their facilities receiving LEED Gold certification, the first semiconductor facility to receive such designation internationally. He has also helped other facilities within the Texas Instrument international network to achieve LEED certification.

His sustainability achievements at home include successfully designing his own passive/active solar house, which was recognized by National Association of Home Builders for innovative design. In his community, Westbrook is committed to teaching and sharing information on sustainable solutions, serving as a guest lecturer at the University of Texas, Southern Methodist University and The University of Texas at Dallas. 

Joshua Brugeman, sustainability director, of J.S. Vig Construction, in Ann Arbor, MI, was also recognized for his commitment to the environment with an Honorable Mention, and a $500 donation to an environmental charity of his choice.
