DANI Leather and Gunlocke Continue to Reduce Environmental Impact

Nov. 30, 2009

FLANDERS, NJ / WAYLAND, NY – DANI Leather U.S.A. Inc., a division of Gruppo DANI and exclusive leather supplier to The Gunlocke Company, recently became the first, and only company to receive Environmental Product Balance Certification (BAP) from the Instituto Di Certificazione Della Qualita Per L'Industria Conciaria (ICEC). BAP confirmed, through documented procedures, the company's ongoing commitment to acting as a pioneer of environmental innovations in the leather industry.

In order to achieve BAP, Gruppo DANI underwent an extensive Life Cycle Assessment that included a detailed evaluation of the company's use of raw materials, its manufacturing process, transportation and distribution methods, product performance, as well as recyclability and disposal of waste. Every aspect of the company's sustainability efforts, from start to finished product and beyond, was carefully reviewed and found to exceed current industry standards.

"Gruppo DANI, through its research and development activities, has continued to break new ground in the area of environmentally responsible leather manufacturing," says James Koeniger Jr., managing director and vice president, DANI Leather U.S.A. "Becoming the first to achieve BAP is consistent with our reputation as a well-respected producer of only the most beautiful and highest-quality leather. Moving forward, we will remain steadfast in our pledge to satisfying the needs of our current customers, without compromising the resources required for future generations."

One such customer is The Gunlocke Company, an industry leader in high-end casegoods and seating. Gunlocke has been a client of DANI Leather U.S.A. for several years and shares the company's strong conviction regarding sustainability.

"Gunlocke's commitment to the environment and role as a leading resource for sustainable products is clearly evident by the use of DANI leather, the multitude of certifications we have achieved and most recently, the unveiling of our new Green Calculator online tool," says Roy Green, Gunlocke director of stewardship and sustainability. "We're extremely proud to be one of DANI Leather's largest customers and to be associated with a company that holds the same values regarding environmental responsibility."

DANI Leather U.S.A. supplies all of its 12 product lines to The Gunlocke Company. Swatch cards are available for the Aztec, Florida, Panama, and Costarica leathers and customers can choose from hundreds of additional color options within the other lines as well.
