National Terrazzo & Mosaic Association Announces Call for Entries

Nov. 16, 2009

The National Terrazzo & Mosaic Association (NTMA) recently announced a Call for Entries for the 2010 Honor Awards, a program that honors the best terrazzo installations completed within the 2009 calendar year. Entries are judged on excellence in craftsmanship; originality of ideas; intricacy of design; and artistic and faithful reproduction of the architects’ or designers’ drawings.

Architects, designers, building owners and others are eligible to submit entries, but an NTMA member contractor must have completed the terrazzo floor. Entries are due by January 8, 2010. The top 14 installations submitted will receive Honor Awards, one of which will receive the additional distinction of “Job of the Year.”

“The NTMA Honor Awards have consistently paid tribute to the most impressive terrazzo installations in the country,” states NTMA president John D’Agnolo. “The floors recognized by this program exemplify the outstanding craftsmanship and beauty for which terrazzo is famous.”

All building types and terrazzo systems are eligible for an award, as long as the judging criteria is met. Art in Public Places projects, large utilitarian floors, renovations of existing terrazzo, outdoor rustic applications, and a myriad of other installations have all received Honor Awards.

The 2010 Honor Awards will also note the terrazzo floors that contributed to a LEED certification for the building in which they were installed. Entry forms and examples of previous Honor Award-winning jobs can be found at www.ntma.com.

Visit the NTMA Web site, or call (800) 323-9736 for additional information.
