Coalesse Achieves Additional SCS Certifications

Nov. 23, 2009

Recently, Coalesse®, a premium live/work furnishings brand, announced that it has achieved SCS Indoor Advantage Gold™ Certification for its EMU® outdoor furniture collections and the Last Minute Stool. Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) also awarded Gold Certification to 13 tables manufactured at its Grand Prairie plant in Texas.

SCS is a global leader in the independent certification of environmental, sustainability, food quality, and food purity claims. Products that qualify for Indoor Advantage Gold certification have met the Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturer’s Association (BIFMA) standard for Low-Emitting Office Furniture Systems and Seating and the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design criteria.

“Environmental sustainability is at the heart of the Coalesse brand,” notes Kevin Owens, director, sustainability & materials exploration for Coalesse. “Across all of our products, we strive to design solutions-based furnishings that are not only beautiful, but are socially responsible and ecologically conscious. We are thrilled that this newest group of products has achieved Gold level certification.”

Coalesse now has more than 50 SCS Indoor Advantage Certifications in the Seating, Casegoods, and Systems categories (34 are Gold Certifications).
