A/E/P Management Compensation Trends Vary By Function

Dec. 14, 2009

WAYLAND, MA – Management compensation at leading U.S. architecture, engineering, planning (A/E/P), and environmental consulting firms nationwide has certainly felt the effects of the economic downturn, according to a new report released by ZweigWhite. While total compensation continues to increase for some management levels at leading U.S. firms, a number of top managers have seen their combined base salary, bonus, and overtime pay, decrease this year, according to ZweigWhite's 2009-2010 Management Compensation Survey.

"In 2009, management compensation has not gone completely unscathed in the current economic environment," says Margot Suydam, managing editor of ZweigWhite's Management Surveys. "While total compensation for IT directors, HR directors, and branch managers has increased this year, project managers, marketing directors, financial directors, and principals saw a decrease in total compensation in 2009."

The 2009-2010 Management Compensation Survey reports on and analyzes base salary, bonus, overtime pay, and total compensation information on project managers, financial directors, information technology managers, human resources directors, marketing directors, branch office managers, and principals. Compensation data from ZweigWhite's 2009 management surveys was compiled into one survey for management-level employees. The report also features comparison tables where base salary, bonus, overtime, and total compensation for each management position are broken down into demographic subgroups such as firm type, firm staff size, region of headquarters, firm growth rate, and firm profit.

Electronic and hard copy editions of this report are available for purchase from ZweigWhite at www.zweigwhite.com.
