Kimball Office Seating Products Earn SCS Certification

JASPER, IN – Six lines, part of the Kimball® Office | interstuhl® partnership, recently received Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) Indoor Advantage™ Gold Certification for their indoor air quality contribution. The certification was granted to the Axos™, Xantos™, Hero. Just for You.™, Silver™, Fit™, and Mitos™ lines of seating.

The SCS Indoor Advantage program applies to products used within enclosed, indoor environments—specifically within a commercial or classroom setting. To achieve gold level certification, each product met IAQ requirements as defined by the U.S. Green Building Council and California Section 01250 IAQ requirements. Additionally, the seating lines claimed two furniture emission points in the Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association e3 Furniture Sustainability Standard.

The SCS environmental certification process includes site audits to access documented control systems, including quality control plans, record keeping and select product samples for laboratory testing.

One of the largest contributions office furniture can make to a building’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) certification is through indoor air quality via low-emitting products.
