Tai Ping Earns NSF Certification

April 30, 2010

NEW YORK – International carpet manufacturer Tai Ping recently announced that it has earned a Silver rating from NSF International. For Tai Ping, the certification is gratifying recognition of a longstanding effort to advance sustainable practices. In an effort to share this process, the company has launched a blog devoted to its environmentally-sensitive policies—“Tai Ping Towards Sustainability”—which is now live at www.taipingcarpets.com/sustainability.

The only recognized “stamp of approval” in the industry with respect to “green” operations, the NSF/ANSI 140-2007 Sustainable Carpet Assessment was the first American National Standards Institute (ANSI)–approved measure for environmentally favorable building products. NSF-140 accounts for every stage in the production and distribution processes—from the use of recycled materials to factory emissions to the quality of the working environment.

Tai Ping’s Silver certification sets it apart from the competition and will make it even more sought-after in the design community. In addition to the outstanding design, quality, and service for which it is already known, this rating makes Tai Ping products a contributor to LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, a credential to which many projects aspire.

“Tai Ping has been serious about sustainability for a long time—it’s critical to our success in business and to the future of our industry generally, not to mention the planet,” says James Kaplan, CEO. “Working toward sustainability is a constant process and an enduring goal.”

The NSF rating is complex. In order to parse just what exactly it means and to report on Tai Ping’s ongoing sustainable initiatives, the company’s new blog (“Tai Ping Towards Sustainability)” will keep readers apprised of efforts to broaden its NSF-140 accreditation and to realize new innovations in sustainable criteria for the industry. Tai Ping’s sustainability blog can be found at www.taipingcarpets.com/sustainability.
