KI Named Gold Fit-Friendly Worksite

American Heart Association recognizes company for its health and wellness initiatives.


GREEN BAY, WIS. – The American Heart Association, in conjunction with its My Heart. My Life. initiative, has recognized KI corporate as a Gold Fit-Friendly Worksite. The award honors KI for making the health and wellness of its employees a priority and serves as a catalyst for positive change in the workplace across America.

“We are extremely honored and excited to be recognized by the American Heart Association’s My Heart. My Life. initiative as a Gold Level Fit-Friendly Worksite,” says Dick Resch, chief executive officer, KI. “Physical activity and employee wellness are very important priorities here at KI and we encourage and applaud our employees for achieving and maintaining healthy lifestyles.”

As a Gold level recipient, KI was recognized for:

  • Offering all employees physical activity support at the worksite. KI offers exercise classes and expanded lunchtime for employees to work out at the on-site KI fitness center.
  • Increasing the number of healthy eating options available at the worksite. KI enforces policies that require its cafeteria to offer healthy choices and general nutrition information. Its cafeteria and vending machines serve and provide items approved by a dietician and nurse.
  • Promoting a wellness culture at the worksite. KI offers employees incentives and reimbursements for participating in various wellness programs that increase physical activity. In addition, KI offers employees annual health risk assessments and provides an on-site nurse, physical therapy, dietician (as needed) and health-coaching programs.
  • Embracing criteria as outlined by the American Heart Association in the areas of physical activity, nutrition and culture. KI promotes a culture of health and wellness throughout the organization and is a smoke-free employer.
