With spring cleaning just around the corner, Save A Sample’s! annual industry recycling drive is coming up fast! This year’s event, sponsored by SpecSimple.com, Wilsonart, Formica and KI, will take place from April 2-4, 2013 in seven cities around the country.
Design firms in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Washington D.C. can donate their unneeded materials to local design schools giving students a professional set of resources to work with.
“Save A Sample! offers our students access to the newest architectural materials and finish products available,” says Linda O'Shea, design chair at Kean University. “I have seen a great improvement in terms of creativity, innovation, and imagination on student materials and finishes boards since being involved in this wonderful program. It is like Christmas morning in the design studios when the Save A Sample! boxes arrive at our school!”
“Sending valuable and still useful materials to landfill is one of life’s unnecessary tragedies,” says Suzanne Swift, Save A Sample! founder and president of SpecSimple.com. “But with Save A Sample!, we repurpose these materials and give them a second life.”
In addition to recycling materials, Save A Sample! also raises scholarship money for design schools, hosts the Save A Sample! student hand drawing competition and awards prizes to top design firm participants.
