ASID Foundation Offers Live Webinar Series on Healthy Building Materials

A three-part webinar series covering sustainable design resources, products and materials on May 22, 2013.

The ASID Foundation of the American Society of Interior Designers, in partnership with the Healthy Building Network, will launch a three-part webinar series covering sustainable design resources, products and materials on May 22, 2013.

Each session will be broadcast live and hosted by leaders from the sustainable design industry.

Introduction to Sustainable Design Resources: Wed., May 22, 2013 2 p.m. (ET)

Introduction to Sustainable Design Resources provides an overview of sustainable design principles and outlines the “12 rules” for specifying healthier building materials and FF&E. The webinar includes a review of independent, trusted resources for healthier, environmentally-preferable products along with a case study of the VanDusen Botanical Garden Visitor Centre, which is pursuing Living Building and LEED Platinum certifications.

How the Experts Specify Healthier Materials takes an in-depth look at steps interior designers can take to vet the ingredients of building materials and FF&E to achieve the greatest positive impact on human health and the environment. It will present in-depth case studies of two recent projects that applied the highest standards of healthy materials selection: the VanDusen Botanical Garden in Vancouver, Canada, and the Google headquarters in Mountain View, Calif., along with lessons for creating a customizable protocol for analyzing a material’s attributes.
