Maharam proudly introduces five new rugs in two new collections. The rugs—Dew and Fringe by design firm Danskina, and Feltro Uno, Feltro Due, and Feltro Tre by designer Paola Lenti—focus on fine craftsmanship.
Danskina’s Dew rugs are made from raw wool which has been hand-cut across the piles, leaving the surface uniquely uneven. This technique changes the way in which light and shadow play off of the surface, giving the rug an almost hazy appearance, and adding depth to the earthy, monochromatic hues. Similarly, Fringe intertwines a dense natural palette with two shades of grey to create bold geometric designs. Woven in India, the surprising contrasts between the rug’s appearance where it is woven over the grey selvage gives the rug a unique yet simplistic look.
This proclivity towards the raw, natural, and geometric continues in Paola Lenti’s collection for Maharam. Feltro Uno, Feltro Due, and Feltro Tre are hand-felted from virgin Italian wool that has been woven into color blocks. The thick zigzag and blanket stitching separating the color blocks gives Lenti’s rugs a warm, artisanal quality. Each rug is produced to order and available in alternative color combinations
Available October 30, both collections offer the user a one-of-a-kind look with strong attention to detail and quality.
