First 'Maker Faire' Features Hands-on Sculpture

May 4, 2016

Cultural entrepreneurship and design studio Collective Paper Aesthetics was recently invited by City2Science to create a public activity for the first-ever “Maker Faire Ruhr,” a whole-family platform for scientists, designers, educators, and everyone who is enthusiastic about learning new skills through participating in hands-on activities.

Collective Paper Aesthetics’ activity was designed to offer an interactive, low-tech reprieve for visitors—a moment where a whole family can relax and create a hands-on popup space together. No special tools or prior knowledge was required.

Reusing a molecular modular system the studio designed for the Polytechnic Museum in Moscow in 2015 with a customized new graphic, Collective Paper created a site-specific visual effect as a “Field of Blooming Lupine” inside the energy hall at the exhibition.

The “Maker Faire Ruhr” was hosted by DASA Working World Exhibition in the city of Dortmund, Germany, from March 12-13. DASA is a family-friendly museum for interactive exhibits on the world of work past, present, and future.
