Alessi Flies the Friendly Skies

April 28, 2017

Debuting last month and inspired by popular items from six of its 300 renowned designers, Alessi has partnered with Delta Airlines on a line of service ware for Delta’s premium cabins, including Delta One, First Class, and, later this year, Delta Premium Select.

“With nearly a hundred years of experience crafting innovative objects for serving food and drinks, Alessi was a natural choice for Delta,” said Alberto Alessi, president. “At Alessi we have worked with some of the most exciting designers in our international network to create the most innovative and advanced in-flight collection in the contemporary design scene.” These collaborators include Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Patricia Urquiola, Campana Brothers, Stefano Giovannoni, Miriam Mirri, and Kristiina Lassus. Delta’s culinary partners were also involved in the process to ensure that the new service ware and overall meal experience were designed in parallel.

The Alessi for Delta products include flatware, crystal glassware, new bone china, stainless steel serving pieces, and tabletop accessories such as napkin rings, salt and pepper shakers, and trays.

“The Alessi for Delta collection is part of our continued investment in delivering a world class, global culinary experience that will elevate our customer in-flight dining experience to new heights,” said Allison Ausband, Delta’s senior vice president of in-flight service. “At Delta we know that every aspect and detail of the travel experience matters, and partnering with Alessi allows us to bring an uncompromising level of elegance and service to the on-board experience.”

The new line is part of Delta’s multi-billion-dollar investment in the customer experience, which has included new seats and seatback entertainment systems, high-capacity overhead bins, and more.
