The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) and co-presenting sponsor Designworks, a BMW Group Company, recently announced their partnership for the 8th annual IIDA Global Excellence Awards. A worldwide design competition, the Global Excellence Awards honors outstanding originality and distinction in commercial interior design and architecture projects. This is the first year that IIDA and BMW will co-host the global awards presentation, showing a joint appreciation for the language of design that transcends both geographic borders and practice disciplines.
“At BMW, the evolution of design is at the forefront of our business,” said Vincent Salimon, CEO, BMW Group France. “We are thrilled to partner with IIDA to celebrate the very best in design and host the celebration for such a prestigious competition.”
The awards celebration took place in Paris at Le Brand Store BMW George V on January 20. All winning projects will be featured in Perspective magazine, the award-winning IIDA design journal, and on IIDA social media channels. In addition, the Best of Competition winner will be the subject of the IIDA Designer Dialogue video series.

Projects were reviewed by a panel of design professionals, including: Malcolm Berg, IIDA, president and design director, EoA, Inc.; Stephanie Cardinal, president, humà design + architecture; Danielle Fox, principal designer, Rodrigo Vargas Design; Johannes Lampela, director of design, Designworks LA, a BMW Group Company; and Geno Yun, AIA, LEED AP, principal, ELS Architecture and Urban Design.
