The new EF Contract—developed out of remaining assets of Bolyu Contract purchased by Engineered Floors—is poised to become a leader in carpet tile.
Under the direction of industry experts Brad Root, who spent 20 years at Shaw and six at Interface, and design guru Susan Curtis, EF will come to market at NeoCon with a series of designs that will be presented as a “flooring system” with creative use of patterns, textures, colors, and more. An added bonus is the mid-teen to low-twenties price point. Root and Curtis will serve as senior vice president of sales and marketing and vice president of design and marketing, respectively.
“Engineered Floors is known for well-designed products that are affordable,” Curtis said. “If you design it well it doesn’t have to be costly.”
With a brand new, state-of-the-art, 550,000 square-foot carpet tile production facility in Dalton, Ga., EF is looking at “disrupting the industry” on the commercial side in the same way Engineered Floors did when it came on the residential scene.
With fresh EF Contract designs and carrying the legacy of the Kinetex brand, as Engineered Floors now owns J+J Flooring Group, the new company is looking to take on the corporate market and higher education specifically. Carpet tile and Kinetex will be at the core of EF’s initial efforts with LVT acting as a “complementary product.” A “handful” of Bolyu’s best-selling offerings will be carried over but tweaked for production in the new facility. “Whether it’s a contract dealer, designer, or end user, we want to create a relationship based on the foundation that we are simply easy to work with,” Root noted.
EF Contract will take over Bolyu’s 11th floor space at the Merchandise Mart.
