Curios Box: Opening the Box of Spring Trends

May 23, 2018

The brand new Curios Box is ready to open. Mixed metals are on the rise, particularly with the use of atypical metal finishes in bathroom and kitchen fixtures. The use of natural materials and recyclable content shows no signs of stopping as manufacturers and end users alike continue to see the increasing importance of sustainability and earth-friendly attributes.

The second Curios Box has arrived. Sit down with Editor-in-Chief Kadie Yale to unbox Spring TRENDS.

Every spring the A+D industry gears up to see what’s hot in design (and breaking in new shoes) as it prepares for NeoCon

For 2018, these trends include (but are not limited to) inspired and unique patterns, a prevalence of mixed metals, the use of natural materials, and the integration of Pantone’s Color of the Year: Ultra Violet.

For wallcoverings and textiles, we have seen a number of patterns that truly don’t look like anything that has come before them, with many paying homage to brand history and designs of decades’ past.

And who can say enough about Ultra Violet? A striking purple hue that is seemingly the perfect tone to honor departed artistic legends like Prince, David Bowie, and Jimi Hendrix.

We’re seeing it everywhere from fashion to floors, walls to lighting fixtures.

The Trends Box is the second shipment from the i+s Curios Box subscription service exclusively for A+D professionals. Sort through this package and check out the hottest products.

How the Curios Box Works

Every other month 250 recipients will receive a box of material samples based on an editorial theme that will introduce you to new solutions and inspiring design ideas.

The Curios Box is free to credentialed A+D professionals who opt-in to the program. Each box will come with a pre-paid shipping label for you to send off any samples you don’t want to keep. They will find use with budding design students and artists.
