NeoCon 2019: interiors+sources Hosts 10th Materials Pavilion and Celebrates 35 Years at NeoCon 2019
At NeoCon 2019, June 10-12, we will host our 10th annual Materials Pavilion at Booth 7-1000 in Chicago’s theMART.
The Materials Pavillion is an experiential, educational material experience where attendees will discover a vast collection of unique materials from around the globe for architect and design projects. Interior designers and trade professionals will see hundreds of material samples displayed side-by-side throughout our 1,800-square-foot space.
The 2019 collection includes trendy items handpicked by us such as:
- 1920s inspired mosaics
- ombré leather wallcoverings
- an array of acoustic options
- American-made quartz
Details for the materials such as their origin, makeup and recommended applications will be provided, along with opportunities to engage in real discussions about the materials themselves with on-hand representatives. Everything in the Materials Pavilion can be touched and felt by attendees, too.
“We affectionately refer to the Materials Pavilion as part resource library and part petting zoo. It’s the best place at NeoCon to interact with innovative materials,” says Steven Sloan, publisher for interiors+sources.

This year’s space will include new features such as a VR experience from Antron, a high-performance flooring manufacturer, along with traditional components like the reliable lounge space for some much needed relaxation.
Along with hosting the Materials Pavilion, we are celebrating our 35th anniversary at NeoCon, with our2019 Designer of the Year, Malene Barnett. Festivities to honor both the milestone and Barnett will include a river cruise experience on Lake Michigan on June 9, where guests will learn more about her and her design work in-person.
“With our mid-western roots, we tend to be pretty humble, but 35 years is no time to be shy,” remarks Sloan. “We’re ready to see some great architecture from the yacht and celebrate with some of the magazine’s best friends.”
There will also be a “Treat Your Feet” contest taking place – a first-of-its kind competition from us that encourages NeoCon attendees to stop by our Materials Pavilion's MooreCo lounge and kick back their feet for a break between booth and showroom visits. While resting, people can share their shoes on social media with nearby backdrops, such as Bentley and Mannington's Insta-worthy rugs made with Antron fibers or Parterre LVT, and use the hashtag #treatyourfeet to be entered in the contest. We will be on the lookout for the most creative kicks and unique ways in which attendees manage to soothe their soles while navigating theMart’s large layout, and a winner will be announced at the end of NeoCon, with a prize to follow.
