Smith & Fong Co. recently announced the launch of its first line of hardwood flooring. Named Sideways, the new line comes in engineered click-lock planks, featuring a rotary-cut hardwood veneer face with a striking twist. The entire line is urea-formaldehyde-free and FSC-certified, enabling it to qualify for LEED Credits MR 7: Certified Wood; and EQ 4.4: Low-Emitting Materials (No Added Urea-Formaldehyde).
Kirei USA’s Kirei Board is made from post-harvest sorghum plant stalks and is strong, lightweight, durable, and environmentally friendly (usable in furniture, cabinetry, casework, and interior design elements). The sorghum stalks are a rapidly renewable resource left after the edible portion of the plant is harvested. Until now, these stalks have been discarded or burned, adding to landfill waste and pollution. Kirei Board helps reduce this waste and ease deforestation by providing a substitute for wood.
Knú furniture is manufactured from FSC-certified wood whenever possible. The powder coated legs of many its products contain an average of 40 percent recycled post-consumer waste steel. Knú also uses a non-toxic PVA adhesive in its lamination process and a low-VOC, HAPS compliant catalyzed varnish for wood finishing. Introduced at NeoCon 2009, the Ann Chair (featured) is constructed with 12 individual cushions attached to veneered, bent plywood that sits atop a stainless steel frame. The bent wood is offered in a variety of eco-friendly veneer finishes.
