Induction Dynamics has announced the availability of SolidDrive units in three colors: chrome, matte black, or titanium finishes.
SolidDrive is a powerful sound transducer that transmits acoustical energy using almost any solid surface. The entire surface with which SolidDrive comes in contact becomes a speaker, delivering high-quality sound and the frequency response of conventional diaphragm speakers. Common building materials such as drywall, glass, and wood can be transformed into high-quality sound sources. Applications include retail storefronts (where music and announcements can be heard on both sides of a window to which a SolidDrive unit is attached), museum displays, or corporate boardrooms. SolidDrive units also form the heart of the RockSolid speaker, a rock speaker with no grille holes and omni-directional sound coverage.
The new black and titanium SolidDrive units have an anodized finish that provides superior temperature resistance for a wider range of operating conditions. An optional heat sink is also available for the SolidDrive units if they will be installed in an enclosed area where excess heat may be of concern.
