The Illinois chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers will be accepting entries for the 12th annual Interior Design Excellence Award Competition starting Friday, May 1. In celebration of ASID’s 40th Anniversary, this year’s program will underscore the many ways in which design matters by showcasing myriad environments that have influenced beauty and function in the residential and commercial sector this past year.
All ASID Professional Members, Allied Members, Associate Members, Industry Partner Members, ASID Student Chapter Members, and IIDA Members, as well as non-members of ASID or IIDA who are registered interior designers in the state of Illinois, are eligible and encouraged to participate. Winners will be announced at the ASID-IL annual awards program, Celebration of Design. The Celebration of Design Gala will be hosted on Friday, Sept. 18, in the Ivy Room of Chicago's Tree Studios. Special guest and ASID CEO Randy Fiser will be presenting on how design matters during the awards celebration.
New categories to the competition include the “Rising Star Award” to honor an ASID-IL Emerging Professional, which will be awarded in both the commercial and residential arenas. ASID-IL also introduces the Designer of Distinction Award to honor a designer who has been an active member of the organization and shown years of design excellence and a distinguished portfolio of work. Additionally, ASID-IL will recognize one member who has demonstrated outstanding industry support and community service with the ASID-IL Gives Back Award. In another new development this year, those eligible will be able to re-submit projects that have not yet won an award. As a new submission standard, all entrants will be required to include a headshot with their entry.
Non-members who win a 2015 Design Excellence Award must become an ASID or IIDA member to enter the competition in 2016 and beyond.
