Product+Expose: Marilyn Mono Print

May 4, 2016

By Flavor Paper

Where did you grow up?

In this life, Brooklyn, N.Y., surrounded by creativity.

What was your first big break?

1962 was my first appearance in Warhol’s “Marilyn Diptych” but my most recent was in May 2015 with Flavor Paper.

What’s the rumor mill churning out about you these days?

Though I’m commended for my Black and Pink colorways, I’ve heard a few whispers about Gold Diamond Dust, White, and the possibility to fully customize me! Shh.

Where was the last place the paparazzi photographed you?

At the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum where I was just acquired in March! They snapped me in two different colors: Black and Diamond Dust Hot Pink.

Aside from sugar, spice, and everything nice, what else are you made of?

Eco-friendly materials and water-based inks through a very special monoprinting technique. I’m always PVC-free, recyclable, and recycled content when possible.

If you could get one plastic surgery procedure what would it be?

I have always been interested to see how I’d look in a few other colors…

Who are some of your idols and influencers?

Jon Sherman, Andy Warhol, and naturally, Flavor Paper—I couldn’t exist without them!

What’s your biggest turn-on?

Shining bright! (Specifically, mirror-finished polyester and Chrome Mylar.)

Turn-off?

Lifeless color.

Who’s your current bestie?

Shoes! Especially since joining Cooper Hewitt because that design has been there since 2014.

Who would you like to work with next?

One of Warhol’s other iconic muses… Barbie would be amazing. We blondes have to stick together.

What’s the worst part about fame?

Everyone talks about me right in front of my face!
