Building Youth Dreams

June 21, 2018

MBH Architects and Good Tidings Foundation partner up to renovate a new space in the Bronx for the Madison Square Boys & Girls Club.

MBH Architects was recently involved in yet another project with Good Tidings Foundation, a charitable organization that looks to equally support arts, education, athletics, and dreams for youth from communities of need. The seasoned firm has designed and transformed a number of locations for the established children’s charity—in fact, MBH founding principal John McNulty is a current board member for Good Tidings Foundation. McNulty has spearheaded multiple pro-bono and reduced-fee projects that have, in turn, led to the creation of spaces that provide numerous children and teens with educational, athletic, and creative opportunities.

Realizing the Potential of Children's Charity

The newest project to emerge from the two’s fruitful partnership is the recently-completed renovation of the Columbus Clubhouse in the Bronx, N.Y., which was realized in collaboration with the PitCCh In Foundation, a charitable organization founded by New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia and his wife, Amber.

This teen center is the firm’s second Good Tidings project in New York—the first being the LeRoy Neiman Arts Center in Harlem. Since its start, Good Tidings Foundation has built or renovated over 170 youth athletic facilities in low-income communities.

On May 10, the 1,091-square-foot project—set to provide a safe recreational environment for members of the Madison Square Boys & Girls Club—was officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that included an appearance by Sabathia. Excited young members quickly got comfortable in the inviting space that includes amenities such as gaming chairs, a flat screen TV, as well as foosball, billiard, and ping pong tables.
