The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce will once again celebrate Brooklyn's creative community at BKLYN DESIGNS, its annual showcase of the borough's most talented artists and designers, taking place at the Brooklyn Expo Center on 72 Noble Street in Greenpoint from May 8-10. The internationally-renowned, juried exhibition of the best furniture, lighting, and home accessories made or designed in Brooklyn is the official kick-off for the NYCxDESIGN initiative, and will feature three days of collective exhibits, pop-up lounges, installations, hands-on demos and a diverse conference program. Special features will include new brands and products launching such as Bolé Road Textiles and Bronsen. Design-tech brands like fahz will be present, as well as an alumni gallery featuring 10 prominent BKLYN DESIGNS alums. There will be a Young Architect Exhibit and multi-brand spaces like the Urban Chandy Loft.
ADFF Pop-Up Cinema short films will be running about architecture, design, and Brooklyn. The AphroChic REMIX Lounge will feature live graffiti art, the work of 25 Brooklyn artists, and design talks and music. Get re-energized with rotating food trucks and kids can enjoy the Imagination Playground where they can participate in crafting with textile scraps and get temporary tattoos done by Tattly Parlor.
Explore other areas of design with a "Design-to-Table" demo and tasting with celebrity chef Katy Sparks or visit the "Fashion Design, Technology & Wearables" section with Brooklyn's trio of fashion-tech incubators.
Free shuttle buses will be available on Saturday, May 9 and Sunday, May 10, running between Brooklyn Expo Center, Industry City & Brooklyn Museum. A detailed schedule can be found on the website. The show is free for trade and press all weekend and $15 for the general public.
